Civil War Seder

When I taught my course on “American Jews” I often asked– “Can you imagine Jews fighting and killing each other during a war?” They couldn’t.

Civil War is famous for such an event. So is WWI when France fought Prussia.

And, there were an estimated 80,000 Jews in the German army at the start of WWII, including several generals. The latter is the reason lots of $$ was paid to get Haredi rabbis from Satmar and Chabad out of Europe.
