Honolulu Jewish Film Festival 2019

March 2, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - March 10, 2019 @ 10:00 pm

The 17th Annual 2019 Honolulu Jewish Film Festival is coming to the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theatre on two consecutive weekends: March 2nd-3rd and 9th-10th. The Festival will feature 10 recent world-class documentaries, comedies and dramas portraying Jewish culture, historical events and contemporary situations. Two of these films are making their national premieres in Hawaii! Along with this exceptional collection of movies, audiences will have their cinematic experience enhanced by expert presenters. This includes Dr. Robert Littman and Avi Soifer from Sof Maʻarav, who are guest speakers for two of the films.

This year’s Festival will also feature special visiting guests at both Hawaii premieres. The Festival kicks off with The Samuel Project on March 2 beginning at 8:00 PM. An exclusive Opening Night Gala at Temple Emanu-El will precede the film at 5:00 PM. This features guest appearances by the film’s Producer Steve Weinberger, Director Marc Fusco and Actress Malina Moye. Israeli comedian and TV personality Guri Alfi will also be appearing. The second weekend of the Festival spotlights the film debut of Broadway’s history-making production of Golda’s Balcony. The production’s own multi-award winning actress Tovah Feldshuh will be in attendance. She will introduce the film and handle the subsequent Q&A. The film will have two screenings: Saturday March 9 at 7:00 PM and the Sunday March 10th at 11:00 AM.
