In addition to returning to Sof to lead services on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, Rabbi Rosalind Glazer has also generously offered to conduct two afternoon shiurim (study sessions) on the Shabbat before Rosh HaShanah (September 8) and on Shabbat Shuvah (September 15).  The topics for these sessions are:

Shabbat Sat 8th Sept – Teaching #1 “Melodies & Midrash for a New Year” – 1:00pm-2:30pm Levinson-Krupp Library at Temple Emanu-El

Shabbat Sat 15th Sept – Teaching #2 “Shabbat Shuvah Text Study (topic to be announced on Rosh HaShanah)” – 1:00pm-2:30pm Levinson-Krupp Library at Temple Emanu-El

These opportunities to study and learn together are offered as a gift to the Sof kehillah and are not part of her service leading for the Yamim Noraim (High Holy Days).  As Ben Azai teaches in the Pirkei Avot (4:2): mitzvah goreret mitzvah (one good deed leads to/will bring another good deed). Those who plan to attend one or both of the study sessions are invited to give High Holiday tzedakah to Elifelet – Citizens for Refugee Children.  You may donate online, or, if you prefer to donate in cash, Rabbi Glazer will make a donation in the name of Congregation Sof Ma’arav upon her return to Israel. (Dina Yoshimi will coordinate the cash donations; please contact her by email or by phone on a non-holiday weekday no later than Monday, September 17 if you would like to contribute in any amount, small or not so small.) Come and learn!
